The Only Rule Is It Has to Work

Spring training is officially underway. To celebrate, I’ve donned teal (something I only do in baseball situations) and have started reading The Only Rule Is It Has to Work. It’s a fun book by two self-identified “statheads” who somehow managed to convince the owner of an independent minor league team to let them take over for the season and try every wild analytically-inspired idea they could think of – with just that one titular caveat. If like me you have mixed feelings about sabermetrics, there’s plenty of other good stuff to redeem the book. If you don’t know what “sabermetrics” means, well, God bless your blissfully ignorant heart.
